Information related to the nonprofit sector and the Center for Nonprofit Excellence is now available in the CNPE Transition Task Force Report. The report provides results from individual respondents to surveys as well as participants in focus groups around the state.
As part of efforts to put an Impact Agenda in place, United Way of Central New Mexico (UWCNM) is reviewing the degree to which CNPE aligns to its mission. The report is the result of a task force that conducted market research to inform this process. The task force consisted of 3 experienced nonprofit leaders - Jean Block, Stephanie Sample, and Ian Esquibel. The group donated their time to collect and compile the results to recommend how the New Mexico nonprofit sector can be best served, and CNPE’s role in serving these stakeholders.
The report includes data compiled from the responses of the participants (194 who responded to the survey and 46 who participated in focus groups) on a number of topics important to the nonprofit sector. Survey participants around the state ranged from organizations with an entirely volunteer staff to those with more than 31 employees. Topics included nonprofit training needs, the possible formation of a nonprofit membership association, the demand for an annual conference and more.
The task force findings have been presented to the CNPE Advisory Board, which will allow the Advisory Board to develop data-informed recommendations to the UWCNM Board of Directors.
Another assessment, focused on Capacity Building Infrastructure, is also underway with results expected in early November. This “Landscape Study” is being coordinated by the New Mexico Association of Grantmakers, and being conducted by Apex, a New Mexico-based, independent evaluation firm. The findings from that study will be taken into account as the CNPE Advisory Board formulates its recommendations.
