UNM Offers New Graduate Program in Public Policy

A New Generation of Policy Analysts.

Economic uncertainty, poverty, low graduation rates and climate change are among the challenges facing the state of New Mexico. Communities across the country face similar challenges.

The University of New Mexico now offers a Master in Public Policy (MPP) program that will train a new generation of analysts who can serve their communities by identifying and championing data-driven policy options.

The applied research, critical thinking, oral presentation and writing skills of MPP graduates will contribute to improved decision-making in local and state government agencies, in Native communities, and in the private and non-profit sectors.

The Master in Public Policy offers students rigorous policy analysis and applied research skills delivered through an interdisciplinary curriculum. The required core courses include a mix of MA and PhD level offerings in economics, politics, organizational behavior, public finance and econometrics.  A Policy and Evaluation Lab gives students hands-on training, and an ongoing Policy Seminar provides professional development.

Working professionals may pursue the Master of Public Policy on a part time basis. Applications are due February 15, 2018.
