We are excited to let you know that Building Movement Project will be conducting a second round of our Race to Lead Survey in New Mexico. The survey is open to anyone working in the nonprofit sector. This confidential survey will ask you questions about your own experiences and perspectives on diversity in the sector. Go to http://racetolead.org and @BldingMovement for more information.
BMP conducted the Nonprofits, Leadership, and Race survey in 2016. Over 4,300 respondents answered questions about their current nonprofit job, interest in leading a nonprofit, training/supports, views of leadership, and personal background. They were also asked about their views on race and the nonprofit sector. The “Race to Lead” report series explores the results of this survey and challenges the way the nonprofit sector has been approaching the racial leadership gap. You can read the reports and learn more at www.racetolead.org.
We presented two report briefing in New Mexico after the 2016 survey and the response was overwhelming. The data from the last survey helped to spark a critical conversation in the nonprofit sector in our state. With this new survey, BMP intends to advance the conversation even further. We aim to get at least 250 respondents working in Albuquerque’s nonprofit sector and another 250 respondents from the rest of the state of New Mexico to complete the survey this summer. With this additional data, BMP will to be able to present a local lens on the findings, dig deeper and help local nonprofits further their social justice and equity work.
