New Grant! JLA Early Education/Childhood Literacy RFP

New Grant! Junior League of Albuquerque Community Impact Project in Early Education/Childhood Literacy

Proposals due October 31, 2013

The Junior League of Albuquerque (JLA) is pleased to announce that it will be selecting a new Community Impact Project to commence in Fall 2014. The Community Impact Project is the JLA’s way to help improve the Albuquerque community, build partnerships with other organizations, and improve the quality of life for Albuquerque residents – one nonprofit at a time.

The JLA is seeking to collaborate with a local organization to provide funding of up to $20,000 for two years for a project that complements the mission of the League and focuses on early education and childhood literacy. The JLA believes it is vital to invest in early education because of its long-lasting impact on children through increasing their opportunities and improving their quality of life.

A potential Community Impact Project must meet the following criteria:
• The applicant must be a non-profit organization;
• The project should work in concert with our current focus area; and
• Requests for capital campaigns, fundraising, salaries, rent, religious projects, and scholarships are not eligible.

A significant facet of the JLA’s mission is to develop the potential of women through trained volunteerism. One way we accomplish this is through supporting Community Impact Projects that provide volunteer opportunities to our member, enabling them to contribute to the implementation, execution, and success of projects. As such, the project chosen by the JLA is encouraged to capitalize on our 100+ trained volunteers. Additionally, the chosen organization may benefit from numerous in-kind contributions and monetary donations from our members.

If your organization is interested in partnering with the JLA in supporting an existing program, or developing a new one, we encourage you to download the RFP form from our website (http://www.jlabq.org/) and return it by email to [email protected] or mail to the Junior League of Albuquerque, 3900 Osuna Rd. NE #128, Albuquerque, NM 87109-4459.

Both emailed and mailed submissions must be received by 5:00 pm (MST) on Thursday, October 31, 2013. Finalists will be notified in early December and will be expected to make a presentation to the JLA membership in February 2014 for final selection.

If you have questions, please contact Christina Stick, Advocacy and Community Issues Chair, by email at [email protected] or the JLA office at 505.260.0199.

Thank you for the many ways you work to improve our community. We look forward to hearing from you!
