Employment Resources for Nonprofits 7-2008

Learn how your nonprofit can hire or recruit young people through various local and state programs. This informational session will inform nonprofits about employment resources for bringing aboard young enthusiasm and energy while investing in the future of emerging nonprofit leadership.

 

Presenters include:

 

New Mexico Commission for Community Volunteerism overview, presented by Gregory Webb. Learn more about the variety of statewide AmeriCorps and national service programs.

 

UNM’s Work Study programs, presented by Naomi Schmierer of the UNM Student Employment Office, where Federal and state money is allocated towards community service employment for students with financial need;

 

Public Allies program, presented by Celestina Garcia of the NM Forum for Youth in Community, where young people are placed with nonprofit organizations to strengthen nonprofits and volunteer engagement; and

 

UNM Community Learning & Public Service programs, presented by Magdalena V. Dathe and Kiran Katira, where initiatives and projects help to build partnerships between the university, classrooms and community needs.
