From Good Intentions to Good Governance: Getting Started in Board Service

Registration is closed for this event

Do you have a passion for the environment, arts, animals or organizations that support vulnerable children and families? Have you thought about joining a nonprofit board but aren't sure where to start?  Serving as a board member is a great way to give back to the community.

This training will help you prepare to have a rewarding and productive experience.

Learn:
- What is the purpose of a nonprofit board of directors
- The benefits of being a board member
- What to expect with board orientation
- What are the core roles and responsibilities of board members
- How to find a board - identifying organizations with a mission that matches your values

You will learn about board member legal and financial responsibilities.  With so many nonprofits in New Mexico, we will help you find one to match your interests.  We will go over expectations of board members and provide you with the tools to be an effective board member.

Presented by Anne Nokes, Community Volunteer.  Anne has served on many boards including: All Faiths Receiving Home, PB&J Family Services, New Futures Inc., Alta Mira, United Way, Cuidando Los Ninos, Barrett Foundation and the NM Zoological Society.
