Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:
This volunteer opportunity is to support the Horizons Albuquerque tutoring program during the regular school year for 1st - 9th grade students, a minimum of once per week, with focus on Reading and Math. Horizons is a nationally recognized academic enrichment program that addresses the achievement gap and summer learning loss for public school students from low-income families that qualify under the federal income guidelines for free or reduced lunch. Horizons Albuquerque, an affiliate of Horizons National, is partnering with a number of APS schools. The program is grounded with a six-week summer school session and is supplemented with family engagement workshops and after school tutoring/enrichment sessions throughout the school year.

This program directly benefits 1st - 9th grade APS Students that are part of the Horizons Albuquerque Summer Sessions program (2019 summer enrollment was 144 total students ).
