Music from Angel Fire
It is the mission of the Festival to bring to the communities of Northern New Mexico the highest standard of artistic excellence, diversity and education in the performing arts through classical and contemporary chamber music programs and to broaden the availability of the performing arts to all.
Music from Angel Fire is an outreach and touring organization directly serving rural Northern New Mexico communities through the production of professional concerts in Angel Fire, Taos, Raton and Las Vegas, complimentary Family/Youth concerts, the Closer Encounters series and the Young Artist/Music in Our Schools Program.
All professional concert programs represent music literature from the Baroque to the Contemporary and are performed by artists of international acclaim. The Family/Youth concerts are presented at Festival venues in cooperation with areas schools and are designed with an intent to reach a young audience in an informal setting with professional musicians.
The Closer Encounters series provides a "behind the scenes" look at the artists' process. Combining open rehearsals with an educational introduction and a question and answer period, participants have a chance to interact with the artists, learn more about the music and gain a deeper insight into each piece.
The Young Artist/Music in Our Schools Program engages young professionals from the Curtis Institute of Music, Philadelphia to reside in Angel Fire during the Festival season and present over 30 classroom concerts to local schools in rural northern New Mexico, exposing and educating area students to the world of classical music. The Festival brings to these rural communities the highest standard of excellence in the performing arts that would otherwise be available only in city-centers.
