The Santa Fe Teen Arts Center, dba, Warehouse 21 is a hub for youth directed development in the arts through mentorship and entrepreneurial opportunities.
The Santa Fe Teen Arts Center, Warehouse 21 (W21) has been a center for youth entertainment, entrepreneurial opportunities and artistic production for individuals under the age of 21 since 1997. It’s unique multi-cultural programs in the performing, music, media and visual arts have served hundreds of teenagers and young adults from all socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.W21 has offered film festivals, movie nights, radio programs; poetry events; comedy shows, theater productions, art exhibitions, lectures and concerts, all of which are supported by teens, young adults/alumni and adults who act as educators and mentors. Workshops are free or low-fee so that all young people can be inspired to empower themselves through artistic expression, self initiatives and productivity.
In June 2012, W21 enters into its 6th year in the 16,845 sq ft 2.4 million city facility on the Railyard in downtown Santa Fe. During this transformative period, W21 also celebrates its 16th Anniversary serving youth. W21 maintains a digital media arts lab, two performance spaces for theater and concerts, films, lectures, meetings and other productions, a gallery for the creation and exhibition of art, a fashion design studio, a recording studio, a screen printing studio and an internet lounge facing the tracks featuring a a retail area in which to sell youth made products and concessions.
Cultivating youth artistic expression leads to new life learning opportunities such as using a computer for the first time, breaking stage fright through a theatrical or musical performance, experiencing one's first applause, participating in public art as opposed to vandalism, producing ones first event, and making one's own product to sell in the market.
