Self Help, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping those in need in northern New Mexico since 1969.
Emergency Basic Needs Program- direct financial assistance with utility payments, food, transportation, rent, and childcare during a period of crisis. Self Help's staff communicates with utility companies, landlords, and other entities to negotiate in behalf of clients, especially those clients who are unable to advocate for themselves.
Consultation and Advocacy - individualized assessment with clients seeking assistance with crisis intervention, case management and referral to the appropriate financial, legal, and human service entities. Staff members help clients to develop skills and resources for managing crises and may direct them to additional agencies that are able to assist clients with employment/employability.
Seed Money for Self-Reliance - grants for individuals and families seeking the skills, equipment and resources to initiate job training, continuing education, vocational development, home businesses/cottage industries, or other projects that will encourage integration into the workforce and enhance financial self-reliance.
