Raton Art Space expands access to arts education, creative expression, practical skills, and community connection by providing inclusive classes, workshops, collaborative projects, and opportunities for people of all ages to learn, create, and participate in the cultural life of Raton and Colfax County.
Raton Art Space’s primary programs include the Community Creative Calendar, which offers year round classes, workshops, demonstrations, and collaborative projects for youth and adults; youth arts and creative skills programming developed with community partners; Golden Age programming for older adults; Focus Series workshops that provide deeper instruction in specific creative disciplines; and community based arts initiatives that connect local artists, instructors, organizations, and residents through exhibitions, public projects, and hands on learning opportunities.
Other programs include public art and creative placemaking projects, artist exhibitions and sales opportunities, seasonal community events, low stimulation access hours, collaborative programming with local nonprofit partners, and community garden and ecological education activities. Raton Art Space also supports local artists and craftspeople through paid teaching opportunities, demonstrations, community projects, and opportunities to share their work with the public.
