Santa Fe Art Institute
The Santa Fe Art Institute promotes art as a positive social force through residencies, lectures, studio workshops, exhibitions, community art actions, and educational outreach for adults and young people. SFAI is an environment where creativity, innovation, and challenging ideas thrive.
The SFAI Artist & Writer Residency Program provides the gift of time and space to emerging and mid-career artists and writers from around the globe through a twice yearly application process juried by a committee of internationally acclaimed artists, writers, and educators.
The SFAI's curated annual season of visiting artist lectures and workshops offers the community access to world-renowned artists, writers, and scholars whose work revolve around a central theme of social importance. SFAI's exhibitions are often tied to the seasonal theme of the visiting artist lecture and workshop series, and provide the community with a way to visually interpret and contextualize the ideas expressed and discussed throughout the season.
The SFAI's Youth Education & Outreach Program brings local teaching artists into the public middle and high schools, filling the gaps left by the reduction of in-school arts programs throughout the public school system.
Additionally, the SFAI supports at-risk youth programs in Santa Fe and Albuquerque with programs in visual arts, spoken word and written poetry, hip hop dance, and style writing workshops. It is the aim of the SFAI's Youth Education program to empower the voices of the youth community.
