Identity, Inc
Identity, Inc supports the LGBTQ community and allies in San Juan County, NM by providing a safe space and opportunity for growth through education, training, self-expression, and links to community resources.
We offer a wide range of resources and services to LGBTQ people and their allies in Farmington and its surrounding areas. We currently sponsor a weekly Teen Support Group which is facilitated by a licensed counselor. We make available a resource guide which we published, listing local human service agencies and ranking the LGBT friendliness (or lack thereof) of their policies. We hold community meetings every two weeks, where community members can discuss their concerns and their ideas in an informal setting. Our Board performs outreach and education to federal, state, and local agencies in our region. We are also working on establishing a clinic to serve our transgender population’s medical needs related to the transition process.
We are currently developing learning workshops, safety and self-defense classes (with local law enforcement). We also offer a limited cyber center with laptops and internet access; however, we are attempting to update and expand our equipment to better service the communities needs. We are also developing a program to provide a non-perishable sack lunch on a Monday thru Friday basis to help fight food insecurity and hunger in San Juan County (primarily targeting the LGBTQ Youth and Adults, but available to anyone).
