Educating and training communities in preparing for disasters and emergencies.
Primary Programs:
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program - educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their communities and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
Other Programs:
Disaster Animal Response Team (DART) Program -partners up with the CERT program to educate and train people on disaster response skills involving animals (pets, livestock, equines, etc.), such as trailering larger animals, animal handling, planning for removal of animals, having animal 'go bags' prepared and first aid for animals.
