Notah Begay III (NB3) Foundation
The mission of the NB3 Foundation is to reduce the incidences of childhood obesity and type 2 diabetes and promote the leadership development of Native American youth through evidence-based sports, health and research programs.
The NB3 Foundation fights for the health and futures of Native American youth through multiple channels, including a variety of strategic programs.
Health & Wellness:
Nutrition and health education to tribal communities to teach better habits. This program also is committed to research and the development of best practices and model programs.
Soccer:
Physical fitness and obesity and type 2 diabetes prevention as well as leadership development and self-esteem of youth participants.
Golf:
Obesity and diabetes prevention and leadership development opportunities that are inherent in the game of golf.
Model programs:
Our San Felipe Place-Based program is a model program to reduce the obesity and diabetes rates among San Felipe youth through comprehensive and integrated sports, health, leadership and community development initiatives in the community. The goal is to develop model and evidence-based programming through our place-based programming at San Felipe Pueblo that can be eventually scaled and replicated to serve other Native American communities in New Mexico and nationwide
Grantmaking:
A bridge to direct investments through grants to support model program development in the areas of youth sports, obesity and type 2 diabetes prevention and leadership development in tribal communities nationwide.
Through these programs, we hope to make a real difference in Indian Country and create a better future for its people.
