Mission Statement:

The mission of the New Mexico Steam Locomotive and Railroad Historical Society is to preserve NM rich railroading history; teaching all about our railroading past, present, and future. We are currently restoring a 1940's era AT&SF steam locomotive and conduct educational outreach into schools.

Primary Programs:

1. Restoration of ATSF 2926 to operating condition. Once restored, it will be used as motive power for steam excursions and as a centerpiece for a transportation museum. Once running, our locomotive will travel to all major cities of the state and possible cross country trips.

2. Educational outreach programs into Albuquerque schools. We are using the locomotive as an example of the exciting careers that students can choose once they have a solid foundation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
