The New Mexico BioPark Society is dedicated to the development of, procurement for and capital improvement of the Albuquerque BioPark's Zoo, Aquarium, Botanic Garden, and Tingley Beach; and to providing a quality facility through the support of related conservation, education, and recreation.
The BioPark Society raises funds from donations received from private foundations, individuals, businesses, fundraising events, state lobbying efforts, grants, and special fundraising campaigns. Since 1969 the organization has contributed over $12 million to the Zoo and since 1993 more than $3 million to the Botanic Garden and Aquarium.
Specific programs funded by the BioPark Society include educational outreach such as the city-wide BioVan and statewide Zoo To You; conservation programs for the endangered species residing at the ABQ BioPark; ongoing funds for animal enrichment, species procurement, and exhibit upkeep/renovations; and capital campaigns such as the Vet Clinic expansion, Insectarium exhibit, and Penguin exhibit, among many others. Fundraising programs include ABQ BioPark memberships (Zoo, Aquarium, and Botanic Garden), BioPark Parent animal and plant sponsorships, special events such as River of Lights and Run for the Zoo, and tribute opportunities.
