The mission of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is to mobilize people and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS. Our vision is to create a world free of MS.
The National MS Society addresses the challenges of each person whose life is affected by MS. The Rio Grande Office is committed to providing vital support and services to the more than 2,500 individuals living with MS in the Rio Grande area, their families, friends, and colleagues.The National MS Society offers a variety of educational, support and exercise groups that address the medical, social, and psychological aspects of living with MS. Education programs, online learning opportunities and materials are available on topics like: MS 101, newly diagnosed, healthy living, employment, accessibility, clinical trials, and complementary treatments. National MS Society Support Groups are offered both in-person and via teleconference, and enhance the quality of life for people living with MS. The Rio Grande office also offers specially designed exercise classes for those living with MS.The National Multiple Sclerosis Society also offers a limited Financial Assistance Program based on the principal that significant changes in life can occur because of MS. It is the goal of this program to assist in maintaining personal health, safety and independence for people with MS during extraordinary circumstances.
