Meals on Wheels of Albuquerque
Nourishing bodies and spirits with balanced meals and friendship.
Meals on Wheels of Albuquerque prepares and delivers nutritious meals to those who may be homebound for short or long periods of time. We serve any one of any age, and our services can be used for as short as a few weeks while someone recuperates to a duration lasting many years.
We prepare eight therapeutic diets daily, which include: regular, heart healthy, diabetic, renal, vegetarian, pre-cut, mechanical soft, and pureed. Our meals are prepared each day using fresh, high quality ingredients and produce. For those more mobile clients we have designed frozen dinners which can be easily reheated.
Our hot meals are $6.50 daily which includes an entree, vegetable, starch, and a "cold pak" which consists of juice or milk, dessert, salad, and bread and butter. Our frozen meals are $4.25 daily without the cold pak. Our meals are delivered daily by devoted volunteers who also provide a safety check as well as social interaction with clients.
Through grants and donations Meals on Wheels of Albuquerque has instituted the Low Income Food and Enrichment (LIFE) Program. These meals are free of charge to those who meet specific requirements
