A Family Appreciation for the Arts is Born
Keshet Dance and Center for the Arts is deeply rooted and committed to making dance and the arts available to anyone and everyone, regardless of ability, experience, age or income. Our mission is to inspire and unite community by fostering unlimited possibilities through dance, mentorship and a creative space for the arts.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of our community and continue to help keep our mission alive. While we have many volunteers who come to Keshet just to be a part of the community, we also offer an unlimited and noncompetitive scholarship for anyone under 18, and a work/study program for anyone over 18. Both programs offer a volunteer trade for dance classes!
The following is an account from Alissa, a work/study volunteer with Keshet who gained a passion for arts education and renewed self-confidence through her volunteer experience.
My name is Alissa and I discovered Keshet by working with someone through the Adaptive Dance Program. I assisted in taking my client to dance classes and taking him to perform in The Nutcracker on the Rocks and Spring Concerts. Being around Keshet made me want to get involved and feel part of their community.
When my daughter was old enough to dance at age 2, I enrolled her in dance classes on a scholarship and I began to volunteer. Eventually I got the courage to start dancing again. I got involved in the work/study program to help me cover the cost of class, and loved it! I know that I wouldn't be able to go anywhere else and have this opportunity and experience. That was eight years ago, and now Keshet will forever be part of our lives.
