Make a Difference Day, a national day of neighbors helping neighbors is just around the corner. This year’s dates of service are Friday, October 26th and Saturday October 27th.
Created over 20 years ago by USA Weekend Magazine, Make a Difference Day has become an annual event in Central New Mexico with people signing up to volunteer for a wide variety of projects registered by the City of Albuquerque, and local non-profit agencies.
Projects like collecting food and clothing for struggling neighbors, cleaning up trash from our various parks so all can enjoy the beauty in the “Land of Enchantment”, building a playground structure at a local pre-school and so much more. These projects are so important, assist many of our residents, and offer tremendous benefits for those that sign-up to help.
Those benefits include, but are not limited to the satisfaction of incorporating service into your life and making a difference in our community and country. The intangible benefits alone – such as pride, satisfaction and accomplishment – are worthwhile reasons to serve.
Additionally, research shows that volunteering provides individual health benefits in addition to social benefits.
So log-on to www.centerfornonprofitexcellence.org - select the “get involved tab” – and scroll down to “Make a Difference Day” – to view all the available projects looking for volunteers, and sign-up TODAY!
