Frida Padilla serves as a volunteer with Rose Family Advocacy (RFA), a new nonprofit dedicated to assisting victims of domestic violence. While her official title is Bilingual Volunteer Survivor Advocate, she doesn’t let that stop her from going above and beyond her duties to assist the members of RFA. From manning tabling events to refereeing a volleyball tournament, Frida does it all!
Her vigor and pizzazz draw people in and make them feel at home. Frida has volunteered with RFA since the start and has recruited new volunteers as well. She holds RFA as dear to her heart as RFA’s founder does and it is evident in her everyday life.
Frida also networks for RFA and has secured opportunities that otherwise would not have happened. When she is not working or advocating for RFA, she serves on other nonprofit boards and plays in a professional female football league. Frida is a force to be reckoned with. Just watch her tackle someone!
Her story of coming to this country from Mexico is not uncommon, but Frida is certainly one of a kind. Being a survivor herself, she understands that there is a huge element of brushing domestic violence under the rug, which she fights to end every day. Frida enjoys connecting with her peers so that they too can feel confident in leaving their abuser, under any circumstance.
Frida’s dedication to assisting the members of her community is something to be emphasized with gratitude. She displays a level of commitment that fortifies her very being. Frida truly is a role model for young women who face an amount of adversity in their life. She is a warrior and RFA is lucky to have her.
