NB3F’s Native Strong: Healthy Kids, Healthy Futures Announces New Grant Opportunity

The Notah Begay III Foundation (NB3F) is launching its first Native Strong: Healthy Kids, Healthy Futures (Native Strong) Promising Program Grant for projects focusing on the prevention of childhood obesity and type 2 diabetes among Native American children.

The purpose of the Native Strong Promising Program Grant is to partner with Native communities to strengthen existing youth focused physical activity and/or healthy nutrition programs and build capacity for program evaluation.

As many as 12 grants up to $40,000 each will be awarded to support projects that strategically target childhood obesity and type 2 diabetes prevention through physical activity and/or healthy nutrition programs. Applications will be accepted from throughout the U.S. However preference will be given to grantees from three specific regions – the Southwest (New Mexico, Arizona), the Upper Midwest (Minnesota, Wisconsin) and the Southern Plains (Oklahoma, Texas).

The application period is from September 18, 2013 – October 28, 2013.
