As you may remember, for more than two decades, USA Weekend Magazine and Hands on Network have sponsored Make a Difference Day, the largest national day of community service. On the fourth Friday and Saturday of October, millions of volunteers around the world unite in a common mission to improve the lives of others. Make a Difference Day is a day to celebrate the power of people to make a difference.
Local non-profit agencies struggle daily to provide the essentials to those in need, often facing many obstacles including lack of available funding.
If you need a room painted, clothes or food collected, trash picked up, a play space created, have a special fundraising event planned such as a golf tournament or a foot race, or a myriad of other projects that you just can’t seem to accomplish, then this is a perfect time to take advantage` of the annual Make a Difference Day event!
It’s easy! Just go to the MDD website – www.centerfornonprofitexcellence.org, select the “get involved’ tab, scroll down to “ Make a Difference Day” and follow the prompts to list your project.
In Central New Mexico, our collective efforts have grown over the years to include people from all walks of life – young and old, families, communities large and small. Volunteers see a problem or an opportunity in their community and take action to address it. They touch the lives of millions and find their own lives changed and transformed.
