With Make a Difference Day and United Ways' workplace campaigns approaching, many corporate groups will be looking for volunteer opportunities.
Here a some tips to help nonprofits offer successful group volunteer projects:
- Plan, plan, plan - Do you have a project that is good for group? What tasks does it require? How many volunteers will you need? How long will it take? What does the group need to bring? What do you need to provide?
- Communicate - Share the answers to these questions with the group, and don't be afraid to ask for exactly what you need. Provide an agenda.
- Be prepared - Make sure you have all of the supplies, equipment, everything the volunteers will need to complete their tasks.
- Be present - Be available to answer questions, offer guidance, and resolve unforeseen issues.
- Say 'thank you' - Let your volunteers know that they are needed and appreciated.
- Demonstrate impact - Show volunteers how their efforts will make a difference on your organization or the community.
