This year, in addition to the Tax Help New Mexico sites around the state, provided by CNM and United Way http://www.cnm.edu/taxhelp/, free online tax preparation is provided for those individuals who would like to do their taxes on their own.
Go to http://www.myfreetaxes.com/CNM and prepare your return using H&R Block at Home for free. MyFreeTaxes is a trusted service provided by Walmart Foundation, One Economy Corporation, the National Disability Institute Real Economy Impact Tour and United Way Worldwide.
Who qualifies: Individuals or families with a combined income under $57,000 in 2011.
If you prefer to have your taxes filed for you, we offer free in-person tax preparation also. IRS certified VITA volunteers offer free tax help to people with low to moderate incomes. VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) sites are located at community and neighborhood centers, libraries, schools, shopping malls and other local places.
