The Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNPE) at United Way of Central New Mexico partnered with the City of Albuquerque and Impact & Coffee to coordinate New Mexico’s Giving Tuesday effort Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 9 a.m. at the North Domingo Baca Community Center.
The event began with the Impact & Coffee networking group (a bi-monthly a mixer featuring individuals connected to the nonprofit sector) and a proclamation of #GivingTuesdayNM Day presented by Mayor Tim Keller's office. From 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. the community had the opporutnity to visit with nonprofits and learn more about how they can give back and celebrate Giving Tuesday.
Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping days of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesdayNM is part of the global day of giving known as #GivingTuesday.
#GivingTuesday harnesses the power of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities. It provides a platform for encouraging the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges. It also brings together the unique and collective power of partners — nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and corporations, as well as families and individuals — to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness.
