For the last 3 years the Cardinal Health Foundation has provided grant funding ($5,000 - $15,000) to local non-profit organizations in cities where our employees live and work. The purpose of the program, called the Prescription Drug Abuse and Misuse Prevention Grant Program, is to initiate and grow grassroots efforts and bring awareness to the rising and deadly epidemic of prescription drug abuse and misuse. A variety of 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations will be considered for this year’s competitive grant funding including schools, community organizations, drug taskforces, community coalitions or other service or civic groups.
This grant program is intended to reduce the misuse and abuse of prescription medications among youth, college students, adults and the elderly by supporting initiatives that seek to:
- increase awareness of and willingness to openly discuss prescription drug abuse and its consequences;
- increase knowledge of how to properly dispose of prescription medication; and
- increase knowledge about how to reduce unlawful access to prescription drugs.
All the information on the grant program including the guidelines, eligibility criteria and online application are available now on our Community Relations website: www.cardinalhealth.com/us/en/communityrelations, click on Apply Now and the 2013 Prescription Drug Abuse and Misuse Prevention Grant Program is the first one listed on the page.
