Affinity Groups of United Way of Central New Mexico Accepting Grant Applications for 2014-15

United Way of Central New Mexico’s Affinity Groups (Women in Philanthropy, Hispano Philanthropic Society and Young Leaders Society) will be offering the following grants for 2014-2015.

Women in Philanthropy, Women’s Self Sufficiency Grant

The purpose of UWCNM’s Women in Philanthropy Women’s Self-Sufficiency grants is to help create sustainable systemic change in our four-county community through grants that address a continuum of services and the most pressing issues for adult women, 18 and over.

Women’s Self-Sufficiency grants will be awarded to those agencies that Enhance Women’s Employability by one or more of these focus areas:

  • Improve high school graduation rates and/or assist with GED completion
  • Provide job/skill training and or retraining for women to secure gainful employment
  • Support transitional housing and/or permanent housing for women

Hispano Philanthropic Society, HPS Middle School Education Initiative Fund

The purpose of the Hispano Philanthropic Society Middle School Initiative Fund is to empower middle school youth to reach their highest potential.  Grants for programs focused on improving one or more of the following proven critical indicators of success for middle school youth:

  • Attendance rates in school (ex. truancy, mobility)
  • Behavior (ex. mental health, emotional competence, resiliency)
  • Course work (ex. math, reading)

Young Leaders Society, Young Leaders Initiative Fund

United Way of Central New Mexico’s Young Leaders Society Initiative Fund is focused on assisting, inspiring and empowering youth, ages13-18/and or high school, to transition into adulthood and to develop into our future leaders. 

Young Leaders Society grants are awarded to those agencies that meet one or more of these four focus areas:

  • Encourage and inspire the continued growth and success of young leaders
  • Provide life skills
  • Inspire community involvement
  • Support educational needs
     

ALL Agencies must meet the following criteria to apply for funding:

  • Offer a program that meets one or more of the areas listed above
  • Provide program services in one or more of the four counties of central New Mexico (Bernalillo, Sandoval, Torrance, Valencia)
  • Attend grant application training the week of March 24th , complete an online application by April 18th  and host a site visit or presentation during the month of May
  • As part of the online grant application, submit a current 501(c)3 letter, IRS Form 990, Board of Directors list and current audit (for agencies with more than $500,000 in annual revenue) or current financial statements signed by the Board Chair (for agencies under $500,000 in annual revenue)
  • If funded, biannual reports are required.

Eligible agencies will be contacted with details of the grant application training when all of the requested information is received:

  5. Brief Program Description (no more than 100 words)
