Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Under direction from the Legal Director, provides legal assistance and representation of low-income victims of domestic violence in family law and domestic matters cases. In addition, the staff attorney prepares legal research, gives legal advice, and provides legal and policy analysis of issues.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Provides civil legal representation to Spanish-speaking victims of domestic violence, with diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, consistent with professional standards, and criteria, policies and procedures of EC and its funding sources. This task includes preparing legal briefs and documents, and developing strategy, arguments and testimony in order to present cases in court and other forums.

Other Information/Requirements: 

This position requires J.D.; 1-year practice of law experience (family law/domestic violence experience preferred) clinical law experience may be considered to fulfill practice of law requirement; bilingual (Spanish/English); and member of NM State Bar.
