Senior Accountant

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Senior Accountant is a critical role within the Accounting Department serving multiple Red Cross units. Maintains financial data that supports effective management and decision-making within the organization. Records financial transactions, prepares and analyses account and reserves, and coordinates the research and resolution of chapter financial statement including variances accounting issues to ensure accurate financial statements. Assists with preparing monthly, quarterly and annual reports.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

•Perform assigned month end closing activities, such as journal entries, bank account reconciliations and account analysis
•Investigate material variances in key income statement line items from budget and prior periods
•Assist the CFO in the analysis, development, and documentation of internal processes and controls related to the Finance and Accounting
•Contribute to the external audit process by locating supporting documents, preparing schedules, answering inquiries

Other Information/Requirements: 

•Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles required and non-profit experience preferred.
•Prior experience in computerized accounting system. MS Great Plains experience preferred.
•3-5 years hands-on experience in accounting.
•This position is based in Albuquerque, NM and reports to the Center of Expertise Lead in Phoenix, AZ.
