Outreach Worker

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Street outreach to homeless individuals in downtown/UNM area. Dispensing supplies & information, assessing needs & referring individuals to appropriate agencies/services. 30 hours per week spent walking and working on the streets doing street outreach work. The remaining 10 hours for administrative tasks and meetings.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Coordinate with behavior health providers, APD, and other outreach programs to facilitate engagement and entry of the homeless population into services. Document each encounter, referrals and progress towards services received. Ability to work alternative hours such as 12-7:30pm in the field at least twice per week. Some weekends.

Other Information/Requirements: 

BA or BS in Psychology, Social Work or related field, preferred but not required. At least one year directly relevant experience working with homeless population OR 2 years related experience (with SDMI, homeless and/or other similar populations). Experience working with individuals with substance abuse issues helpful. Must have own vehicle. Mileage (and cell phone usage) is reimbursed.
Bilingual is a plus.
