Community Associate

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Community Associate (CA) supports a nationally funded consortium project plan to promote bi-directional knowledge flow and co-learning between New Mexico and Illinois community based organizations and academic institutions. The CA will help NM organizations serving people with developmental disabilities engage with academic institutions through Service Learning, Research Questions/Studies, and Health Matters Training to reduce the health disparities of people with developmental disabilities.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

The CA will approach and work with a diverse group of community, government, university and corporate and tribal entities/partners, and individuals with development disabilities and their advocates, to develop a statewide network supporting the health promotion and the full inclusion of people with developmental disabilities. Bi-lingual in Spanish or tribal languages helpful.

Other Information/Requirements: 

This position requires a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Special Education, Human Services or related field, or a combination of related education and experience equal to four years. Four years of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities (DD), the NM DD Waiver system, and knowledge of the health and inclusion disparities of people with DD preferred.
