Associate Officer of Development

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Americans for Indian Opportunity (AIO), a national Native American nonprofit organization, is seeking a talented Associate Officer of Development to join our team and help maintain relationships with current donors and identify prospective funding sources to support AIO’s existing and planned program activities. The position will also partner with the Executive Director to report on the performance of AIO activities.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

The ideal candidate will embody AIO’s mission by demonstrating an understanding of issues affecting Native Americans & Indigenous peoples around the world, & articulating to our constituents & potential donors how AIO addresses those issues through programs and initiatives. The Associate Officer of Development will focus on the development & implementation of an organizational fundraising plan & researching & identifying new government, private & tribal funding prospects.

Other Information/Requirements: 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree + 5 years related experience in fundraising, including grant writing and research
•Social justice experience preferred
•Outstanding verbal & written communication skills
•Ability to write detailed reports & correspondence
•Strong interpersonal skills & ability to cultivate meaningful relationships with program officers & major individual donors
•Discretion in dealing with confidential & financial information
