Main Areas of Responsibility:
The RRYC accompanist has a passion and the patience for working with sixth through 12-grade students across a full range from beginners who are unsure of themselves to advanced students with the passion to pursue a career in the performing arts. The accompanist must have the patience to work with these students of all musical abilities, whether working one-on-one for solo accompanying or assisting with the teaching of harmony parts to various sections of the ensemble.
Additional Areas of Responsibility:
The RRYC accompanist would have the skills and experience in multiple styles and genres of music, have the technical skills to play challenging pieces and have the rhythmical ear to handle syncopation and groove. The accompanist will be an important part of the creative team, working directly with the artistic director to achieve a high level of musical accuracy and sensitivity and contributing ideas to the discussion about concert production.
