Grantmaking Program Area Descriptions:
Education Reform- Committed to improving K-12 education in the United States at every level- in traditional public schools, charter public schools and private schools. Core strategy is to infuse competitive pressure into American's K-12 education system by increasing the quantity and quality of school choices availabe to parents, especiallly in low-income communities. Distinct initiatives, shaping school policy; creating quality schools; and improving existing schools.
Environment: Conservation solutions that make economic sense are the ones that stand the test of time. We work to achieve lasting change by creating new and unexpected partnerships among conservation, business and community interests to build durable soluntions to big problems. We invest programs that pursue lasting conservaton solutions for oceans and rivers while also recognizing the role these waters play in the livelihoods of those who live and work nearby. Focus is in environmental giving through two initiatives: freshwater conservation; and marine conservation.
Home Region: Investment in programs of specific interest to the Walton Family that measurably improve the quality of life and enhance educational and economic opportunities for the citizens of northwest Arkansas, and throughout the state of Arkansas.

Ensuring Healthy & Resilient Freshwater Systems: Supports efforts to ensure healthy and resilient communities of both wildlife and humans in the Mississippi and Colorado River Basins.
Dramatically Improving Fisheries Management Practices: Supports urgently needed fisheries management reform, with an emphasis on fisheries in the Gulfs of Mexico and California.
