Mission/Giving Statement: UWSWNM exists for one reason- to help us come together as a community to identify and address the issues that take all of us working together to solve. Issues like making sure children enter school ready to learn and that all people have access to primary healthcare, issues that can only be addressed with a collective community focus and action.

Grantmaking Program Area Descriptions:
Education: Helping children and youth achieve their full potential through support of programs dedicated to developing quality child care, school readiness, academic completion and personal development.
Income: Promoting financial stability and independence through support of programs dedicated to developing individuals ability to maximize income, increase savings and build financial assets for long term stability.
Health: Improving people's health through support of programs dedicated to improving preventative/everyday health care and teen health including drug-free, at a healthy weight and reducing pregnancy rates.
Community/Family Building: Providing an individual with the support and resources needed to create a better life through building lasting, meaningful relationships between community members and fostering that feeling of interconnectedness, ultimately resulting in a better life for everyone in the community.
Type of Funding/Funding Restrictions: The United Way of Southwestern New Mexico funds only local agency programs that fall within their four grantmaking program areas.
