About Us: 

Mission/Giving Statement: The Foundation's mission is to reduce the incidences of obesity and type 2 diabetes and advance the lives of Native American youth. To this end, the Foundation supports the development of evidence-based sports and wellness programming primarily in the forms of soccer and golf, which can serve as a vehicle to both improve the health of Native American youth as well as foster leadership and community development.

Grantmaking Program Areas: Capacity Building Grants; Promising Program Grants

Grantmaking Program Area Descriptions: 

Capacity Building Grants: The purpose of the Native Strong: Healthy Kids, healthy Futures Capacity Building Grant is to support:  1. Community Health Assessments (new or ongoing): to better understand the root causes of childhood obesity and type 2 diabetes which will result in strategies and an action plan to address this health issue; or 2. Community Planning and Capacity Building: to create a community-driven action plan to address childhood obesity and type 2 diabetes (i.e. host stakeholder convenings, coalition building and collaboration efforts). Grants will be awarded up to $20,000 each.

Promising Program Grants: The purpose of the Promising Program Grant will be to partner with Native communities to strengthen existing youth focused physical activity and/or healthy nutrition programs and build capacity for program evaluation. Grants will be awarded up to $40,000 each.  

Types of Funding/Funding Restrictions: The Foundation will not consider proposals in which it would serve as the sole source of funding. It will not fund individual scholarships.

Application Instructions: Submit a proposal including an application narrative (not to exceed two pages), proposal summary report, and supporting documents. See website for more information and deadlines.
