Mission/Giving Statement: The New Mexico Historical Records Advisory Board has received funds from the New Mexico Legislature and the National Historic Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) to fund its Historical Records Grants Programs for improving preservation of and access to New Mexico's historical records.

Historical Records: Grants will be awarded annually to applicants who demonstrate need, financially and programmatically, and show commitment to solving their historical records problems. The Board funds projects that help to preserve paper, film, photography and oral recordings. Projects must address the funding priorities of NMHRAB as published on their webpage. Applicant must describe the records covered by the proposal and their importance in documenting New Mexico's history.
Type of Funding/Funding Restrictions: Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations and tribal governments, along with special units of government, local, and state governmental entities, are eligible to apply. Applicants must have a provision for the transfer of holdings to a like organization or an appropriate repository upon dissolution. Applicants must provide a minimum match of 25% of the total cost of the project in either cash or in-kind services and/or materials. Preference will be given to proposals that match the grant with 50% cash or in-kind.
