Grantmaking Program Area Descriptions:
Education: General Mills Foundation supports efforts that emphasize student academic achievement at the pre K through 12 levels with a focus on academic enrichment and advancement.
Strengthening Communitites (Legacy): General Mills Foundation provides Legacy support for family services and arts & culture nonprofits - organization in which the Foundation has had a historical, long term funding relationship. The Foundation is not accepting applications for new grants in these categories.
United Way Campaign: General Mills has a long history of supporting the United Way through employee campaigns. The General Mills Foundation matches employee and retiree contributions dollar-for-dollar.
Type of Funding/Funding Restrictions: The Foundation focuses on grant making, scholarships, and employee gift matching. As a standard practice, it does not support Social, labor, veterans, alumni or fraternal organizations; Advertising; Recreational, sporting events or athletic associations; or Basic research.
