Mission/Giving Statement: The Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund (DWCF) grants program provides financial support for the study of wildlife, the protection of habitats and the development of community conservation and education programs in critical ecosystems around the world. In addition, the DWCF has expanded its focus to provide special grants that help connect kids and nature through exploration and discovery. The DWCF was established in 1995 and with the help of Disney guests it has awarded annual conservation grants to more than 300 organizations working in 112 countries.
Grantmaking Program Areas: Conservation Fund/Rapid Response Program in Wildlife Protection; Habitat and Ecosystem Preservation; Conservation Education Initiatives; Community Involvement and Scientific Studies.
Grantmaking Program Area Descriptions:
Conservation Fund: Conservation of endangered or threatened species and their habitats around the world. Funds for the support of established conservation programs, particularly those long-term in nature- that preferably have the following components:
contain a strong in situ research component
promote education, awareness and training
demonstrate a marked benefit to in country participants, habitats and species by working with local communities, regional/national NGO's or governments that directly impact the initiative
the principle investigator affirms that the welfare of the animals identified in the study is not compromised
Rapid Response Funding: Is provided in times of environmental or conservation crisis or need. Awards are typically $5,000 and can be applied for throughout the year.
Type of Funding/Funding Restrictions: Organizations must be registered as a non-profit and operate in the US or have a registered US partner willing to accept and transfer funds.
