Advocacy enhances outcomes.  Advocacy educates decision makers and expands public awareness about an issue.  Approaches can differ, but the goals are similar--to address an issue at the source.

Advocacy Topics presented by Leaders in Our Nonprofit Community:

  • Collaboration and Politics: Pamelya Herndon, Southwest Women’s Law Center, will talk about partnering with other organizations for advocacy and how to follow what’s going on in the legislature to know how it will impact the community.
  • Implementing Advocacy: Jenny Metzler, Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless, will talk about creating a framework for “advocacy in action.”
  • Community Outreach: Adrián Pedroza, Partnership for Community Action, will talk about reaching out to the community to bring individuals and groups together for advocacy and action.
  • Empowering Clients Through Advocacy: KC Quirk, Crossroads for Women, together with a client, will talk about engaging clients in advocacy work.
