An Assets Based Approach to Strategic Planning

We know from experience and from research that when we focus on strengths and not flaws we achieve better results.  Is your strategic planning process focused on weaknesses and threats or do you explore aspirations and results?  Join us and learn about an assets based approach to strategic planning; it will change your organization. 

Participants will:
- Review the potential benefits and disadvantages of strategic planning
- Identify various assets/strengths based approaches
- Use a case study to illustrate how an assets based approach could be used in strategic planning
- Develop ideas on ways such strategies could be utilized in their organizations.

Presented by Patty Emord, PhD.  Dr. Emord has over twenty years experience working with community organizations, health professionals, academic settings and private corporations.  Her expertise includes facilitating organizational change and development, instructional design, providing training, and program evaluations.  In her approach to projects, Patty stresses the importance of seeking stakeholder participation in organizational initiatives ato yielf useful results.  She focuses on building capacity and skills within organizations in order to help them become more self sufficient.  Dr. Emord has six years experience teaching Bachelors and Masters level classes for the University of New Mexico, College of Education, Organizational Learning and Instructional Technologies program and for the UNM Masters of Public Health in Shiprock, New Mexico.  Dr. Emord is an active member of New Mexico Evaluators, a professional association.
