Angelo Gonzales, MA, PhD
As President of AJG Consulting LLC (d/b/a Community-School Solutions), Angelo Gonzales helps organizations develop the capacity to achieve better outcomes for children and families. He spent his career working at the intersection of higher education, government, and non-profit organizations, bringing data, research, and community voice to bear on many of our community’s most pressing social and educational challenges. As the founder and previous Executive Director of Mission: Graduate, a cradle-to-career education partnership in Albuquerque, Dr. Gonzales is an ardent practitioner of the collective impact approach to systems change. He also has extensive skills and experience in community outreach, public policy, grant making, strategic planning, continuous improvement, and executive leadership.
Previously, Dr. Gonzales served as Chief Strategy Officer at United Way of Central New Mexico (UWCNM), where he led the implementation of UWCNM’s impact agenda and its associated strategic initiatives—Mission: Graduate and Mission: Families. Dr. Gonzales also worked as a Research Assistant Professor and Associate Director of the University of New Mexico (UNM) Cradle to Career Policy Institute (formerly known as the Center for Education Policy Research), and he worked for U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman for over six years in both his Washington and Albuquerque offices. Dr. Gonzales holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley and a B.A. in Chemistry from Pomona College. He is a proud New Mexico native and graduate of Del Norte High School, having co-founded the Del Norte High School AlumKnights, a nonprofit organization that has awarded over $70,000 in scholarship to DNHS graduates since 2013.
