First Tee of the Pecos Valley
Mission: "To impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that promote character development and life enhancing values through the game of golf."
A. THE FIRST TEE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM guides participants through The First Tee Life Skills Experience. This curriculum was developed by experts in the field of positive youth development and is delivered by trained coaches. Through this experience, participants learn how to apply life skills and transfer the positive values of golf to everyday life. Participants advance through The First Tee Certification Levels of Player, Par, Birdie, Eagle, and Ace. The skills that participants acquire through the program can be viewed as personal assets that will help them develop resiliency and long-term physical, social and mental health.
B. THE FIRST TEE NATIONAL SCHOOL PROGRAM is an in school, physical education program designed to deliver The First Tee Life Skills Curriculum to elementary school students. The program is currently implemented in 3,400 schools with over 1.6 million student participants nationwide.
C. THE FIRST TEE TARGET PROGRAM is an introduction to The First Tee Life Skills Experience. Our TARGET Program is used to introduce the game of golf through First Tee outreach efforts that take the form of summer clinics, sessions with schools, and through activities offered at after-school programs or youth serving agencies (e.g., Boys and Girls Club, YMCA). Target also provides educational opportunities for parents and Board Members, as well as promotional events for potential sponsors and volunteer groups within the community.
