Las Cruces opens GLBTQ Community Center

New Mexico Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning/Queer (GLBTQ) Centers, a Las Cruces based non-profit has opened a GLBTQ community center at 1210 N. Main Street in Las Cruces. The center, a first for Las Cruces, will provide social, educational, cultural, and support services to enrich the lives of GLBTQ residents of Las Cruces, Dona Ana County and surrounding counties. It is the first of six regional community centers New Mexico GLBTQ Centers (NM Centers) plans across New Mexico.

“We’re excited to have the center open and to start rolling out programming over the next month or so,” stated David Stocum, Executive Director of NM Centers. Stocum continued, “There will be a grand opening celebration during Southern New Mexico Pride June 18-20 with an open house and other events all weekend.”

Currently, the Las Cruces GLBTQ Center is open Tuesday through Friday from Noon to 8:00PM,Saturday and Sunday from 1:00PM to 5:00PM, and Monday 8:00AM to 4:00PM. The center is home to a teen/youth center, a Transgender support group, a men’s support group, Stonewall Coffeehouse and open mic night with other groups and activities coming over the next several weeks, The Center’s calendar is available on its website www.newmexicoglbtqcenters.org.
