Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Stewardship and Outreach Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of New Mexico Wild’s stewardship program, including supervising our permanent and seasonal team of Wilderness Rangers, managing relationships with staff from federal agencies and nonprofit partners, managing cooperative agreements with federal agencies and other stakeholders, obtaining competitive grant funds, planning stewardship events and activities, and recruiting and managing volunteers.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

This position also has a primary purpose of leading outreach activities to sustain and increase organizational membership and promote volunteer involvement in and public awareness of New Mexico Wild’s work.

Other Information/Requirements: 

The ideal candidate will have a passion for wilderness and wildlands; have professional experience with conservation and/or stewardship organizations; have excellent writing and oral communications skills, including public speaking; have a demonstrated proficiency in developing relationships around shared values and interests with diverse communities; and be adept at building a powerful movement focused on environmental protections.
