Director of Communications

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Santa Fe Institute, a world-renowned scientific research center, seeks a full-time Director of Communications, a seasoned, accomplished professional who will be responsible for a wide variety of strategic communications activities, internal and external.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

The Director will integrate organizational message and media strategy; produce and disseminate institutionally focused information via multiple media, including website/internet communication resources; write for or edit institutional publications; oversee media relations; and work in a collaborative environment with researchers, development and education offices, contracting writers, and news media.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree and ten years of related experience required. Also required are outstanding management and editorial skills; expert knowledge of journalism, public relations, and general communications principles; and ability to translate technical concepts and material into compelling, persuasive products.
