Adult Basic Education Instructor

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Objective: Saranam is seeking in instructor for each of the following adult basic education classes: Math & Science (8:30-10:30 am M/T/Th/F) and Reading, Writing, & Social Studies (10:30-12:30 M/T/Th/F). In coordination with Director of Education, instructor will facilitate adult lessons using Saranam curriculum and maintains a safe learning environment supportive of student educational progress during the first semester of Saranam educational programing.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Essential Functions: 1.Facilitate Saranam lesson plans in coordination with Director of Education and other Saranam instructors, guest speakers, and volunteers. 2.Maintain a safe and secure learning environment that supports learning and relationship building. 3.Assess individual student progress in coordination with Director of Education. 4.Communicate effectively with Saranam clients and staff. 5.Manage classroom behavior according to Saranam guidelines and rubric.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Qualifications: •A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with coursework •Instructional or classroom management experience. •Experience with different teaching approaches, including lecture, discussion, collaborative learning, individualized instruction, and technology-supported instruction. •Experience working with nontraditional and diverse populations. •Knowledge of the effects and impacts of poverty, homelessness, substance abuse, domestic violence, and trauma.

Schedule:
•Core Academic Skills classes are in person and meet Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday on site in the Saranam classroom. Math & Science meets 8:30-10:30 am. Reading, Writing, & Social Studies meets 10:30 am -12:30 pm.

Salary Range: 
$40 hourly
