Planned Giving Roundtable

About

The Planned Giving Roundtable is an ongoing group that provides a space to talk about the different aspects of legacy gifts. Each month there is a different topic and the space is open to nonprofits at any point in their planned giving journey.

June Topic

Starting an Endowment Fund

A best practice in planned giving is having an endowment fund, which ensures that a donor's gift is permanently invested rather than spent on short-term operations. Join us to hear Marisa Magallanez, Advancement Manager at Albuquerque Community Foundation, and Kelli Cooper, Vice President at Albuquerque Community Foundation, speak about the process of setting up an endowment.

Participants are encouraged to bring their lunch to this brown bag event.

CFRE Credits

Participants can receive 1.5 CFRE credits for this training. Participants must ask for a CFRE certificate when they check-in on the day of the training.

Audience

Executive Directors, Development Directors, Development Staff

Presenters

A friend, donor and volunteer of the Albuquerque Community Foundation, Kelli Cooper was recruited in 2000 to join the staff to build the Foundation’s young donor group, the Future Fund. Almost immediately after the Future Fund was introduced to the community, it celebrated 400 members and became the ‘hot spot’ for young donors and future philanthropists.

Over the years, Kelli’s creativity would lead to the development of many programs--mainstays of the Foundation’s current work.  These include Corporate Partners in Philanthropy, Great Grant Giveaway, Philanthropy Central, Impact grantmaking, the historical galleries featured throughout the Champion Building, Concours du Soleil, Trolley Tours, the Social Giving Club and highly anticipated donor recognition events.

Marisa Magallanez joined the Albuquerque Community Foundation as Advancement Manager after 14 years at the National Institute of Flamenco. While at the Institute, Marisa helped establish milestone initiatives including Tierra Adentro Charter School, Tablao Flamenco, the Sawmill Campus, and rebuilding the organization after the 2013 fire.

Marisa holds an MBA with a focus in Policy and Planning from the University of New Mexico.  In her free time, she enjoys horseback riding, hot yoga, and spending time with her three dogs.

The Center for Nonprofit Excellence often takes photos during our trainings to share on social media. If you prefer not to be photographed, please let us know in the Special Needs field when you register.
